Santander Lite customers can now get 5% cashback when paying for things using their mobile phone.
Santander’s 123 Lite current account already offers customers cashback for paying their bills.
The new limited-time offer also rewards customers for using Apple Pay, Android Pay or Samsung Pay.
It runs until 30 September and Santander says cashback will be credited to customers’ accounts by the end of November.
Matt Hall, head of banking and unsecured credit at Santander, said: “Our 123 Lite Current Account is well suited to customers who regularly use digital banking.
“Cashback linked to Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay is another innovative way we’re rewarding customers for banking with us.
“It will be paid into customers’ accounts by the end of November, which could be a useful bonus to cover some of the Christmas shopping.”
Santander currently pays 3% cashback for mobile, home phone, broadband and pay-TV bills, 2% for gas and electricity, and 1% for water bills and council tax.
You can also get 2% cashback if take home insurance from Santander and 1% if you’re mortgage is with the bank.
To qualify for cashback on the 123 Lite account, customers must pay in at least £500 a month and set up two active direct debits. A monthly account fee of £1 also applies.
NatWest cut cashback rates on its Reward current account last month, from 3% down to 2%. It also reduced the account fee from £3 to £2 a month. That 2% rate applies to council tax, water, gas, electricity, mobile phone, TV, landline and broadband packages.
