Tesco Bank has added a new feature to its mobile app that makes it easy for customers to report their credit card lost or stolen.

Users are able to block their card at the touch of a button, while keeping their account active.

The app also allows you to unblock the card just as easily should you find it again, or cancel it completely and order a new one.

Tesco Bank said more than 300,000 customers got in touch last year to report their card lost or stolen.

And research by YouGov shows more than one in ten (12%) of credit card holders have found their card after reporting it lost.

Grant Bourbousson, Tesco Bank’s digital director, said: “We want to make banking as easy as possible for customers.

“Millions of credit card customers across the UK contact their bank each year to report a lost card only to find it again.

“By allowing our credit card customers to block their card with just the tap of a button on their phone, this new feature takes the hassle and stress out of those occasions when you think you’ve lost your card, only to find it a little later.

“It is just another example of the innovative new features we are delivering to help customers manage their money using our mobile banking app.”

The Tesco Bank app also allows customers to check their balance without going through the full login process, manage their credit limit and set up, edit and cancel Direct Debit payments.

It also comes with fingerprint login using Touch ID and Android Fingerprint.
